London Borough of Richmond upon Thames 2013
This award-winning project focused on transforming the site into a working community centre, with a children’s centre, primary school, nursery and community facilities for adults. It was undertaken in two phases. As part of phase 1 we built an extension to replace the ageing nursery building and created a new children’s centre. At that time we also upgraded and reorganised the entrance and administration spaces to create flexible community facilities. We achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for environmental performance, and secured three awards – a Civic Trust Award, a RIBA Award, and a British Construction Industry Award for ‘Small Building Project’.
We completed phase 2 in September 2012, and effectively doubled the size of the school by building a new two-storey extension, taking it from single-form entry to two-form entry.
