When it comes to awards, being named Contractor of the Year is pretty much as good as it gets (although we love all the others too). It’s the second time we’ve won the title. The first was back in 2010 when judges commented that “Lakehouse offers everything you'd want from a modern day contractor”. Praise indeed.

This time around they were impressed by our continued expansion and the investment we’ve made in our people. And on that note, the award was dedicated to our workforce by Managing Director Sean Birrane:

This is great recognition for a brilliant company, for the staff and clients we work with. It’s a good, fun place to be, and we’re doing the best we can. This recognition will really hit home, it's something that all our people can be proud of. Well done Lakehouse.

Carol Bailey, Director of Communities and Regeneration, added:

This will boost the spirits of our staff; it’s all about them, and what they do each and every day.

We had a record year in 2012, partly due to the acquisition of K&T Heating and fire safety experts, Allied Protection. We launched and have since grown our Sustainable Energy Division, successfully achieving accreditation under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. On top of that, we were one of the first 1,000 companies in the UK to achieve Green Deal Installer status, something we’re quite proud of.

Key projects in the last year have included the creation of an employment academy from a disused grade II-listed Victorian building for Thames Reach, and the phase two extension of award-winning Lowther Primary School in London.

To celebrate our Contractor of the Year 2013 title the entire company, including all our friends at K&T Heating and Allied Protection, enjoyed lunch on Lakehouse with ‘Pizza Friday’.
