The British Safety Council has announced the winners of its International Safety Awards, and we all have something to celebrate. The SHEQ team’s submission has secured Lakehouse an International Safety Award, which will be presented at a London awards event at the famous Grosvenor House Hotel, on Friday 25 April. Additionally, two of our employees were entered for two special individual awards which recognise individual contributions to overall health, safety and welfare on site:

  • Patricia Coggins for Health and Safety Young Champion of the Year (candidates must be under the age of 21)
  • Jon Davies for Health and Safety Champion of the Year (candidates must be over the age of 21)

We’re thrilled to announce that Administrator Patricia Coggins has been short listed for Health and Safety Young Champion of the Year. Patricia is 20 years old and an integral part of the Business Improvement Team. She is a SHEQ Champion, a qualified fire marshal, and she has recently completed a PTLLS course to enhance her ability to carry out training. Overall, Patricia is a highly dedicated member of the team and she undertakes each task she is given with precision and care. She is a real asset to the Business Improvement Team and more widely to Lakehouse. We value her input in helping to coordinate reporting and communications for our Lakehouse Safety Legacy and improving the overall image of health and safety at Lakehouse. To be short listed for this award is very impressive, and we can’t wait to hear the results. Whatever the outcome, Patricia is a winner in our eyes!

We’d also like to recognise Contracts Manager and SHEQ Champion Jon Davies. Jon started work at Lakehouse as a Roofing Supervisor, and has since been promoted to Site Manager and more recently Contracts Manager. Of all the staff involved in the operational side of our business, no-one is more committed to the promotion of health and safety than Jon. He really does pull out all the stops for Lakehouse, regularly working evenings and weekends to ensure that our work is of the highest quality. His dedication to the health and safety of his team and his colleagues is reflected in consistently high audit scores and regular praise from clients and residents. Jon is very proactive, and is keen to continue to increase his skill base through ongoing learning. He is currently undertaking an NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety as well as recently completing the Lakehouse internal Fire Risk Assessor Course. He is well respected by clients, residents and colleagues throughout the business and his commitment to the Lakehouse Safety Legacy is recognised and applauded by the health and safety team. Jon, you’re a star!

Please join us in thanking both Patricia and Jon for their excellent contributions.
